Alternative Spelling – Set 2

Levels 11B, 12, and 13 continue to develop children’s understanding of alternative spellings in English. At this advanced stage, children learn a wider range of spelling patterns that represent the same sounds. These levels strengthen both reading accuracy and spelling awareness, helping children read and write with greater confidence and precision.

Learning continues to be supported by interactive phonics games on iOS and Android, ensuring systematic practice and consolidation.

Completion of Levels 1A–11A, or equivalent phonics and reading knowledge, is recommended.

Children practise by:

• Comparing spelling patterns within words

• Reading words and short texts in context

• Repeating activities that support accuracy and automatic recognition

The guided, game-based approach ensures mastery while keeping learning engaging.

Who Is This Level For?

• Children focusing on accuracy in reading and early writing

These levels are ideal for children moving toward fluent, independent reading and writing.

Why These Levels Are Important
